Vatican City
The world’s smallest state is also one of its most attraction-packed spots. As the center of the Catholic Church, Vatican City is full of breathtaking religious architecture and artistic treasures. Must-sees include the imposing St. Peter’s Basilica—so vast that the Statue of Liberty could fit comfortably under its dome—and the mesmerizing frescoes at the Sistine Chapel.

Wow oh wow!
Wow oh wow! This is the place to visit for sure for all the history in one holy location. The art in itself is amazing, even if you are not religious.
Don't forget to get your holy souvenirs blessed with Holy Water BEFORE you leave the one-way gates as there is no coming back.
This place is wonderful!

Did a museum tour, wasn't interested in a lot of the history, but took about 200 photos anyway. Not allowsd to take photos at end in Sistine Chapel, no point, cameras would do it justice, the most room in the world.

Book a private or small group tour ahead of time, will be well worth it. We did the Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica - skip the lines tour. If you don't have a reservation you will be wasting time for hours in line to get in

We were told that 43,000 people visit the Vatican each day.
We were told that 43,000 people visit the Vatican each day. To be fair, this volume of tourists seems to make it almost impossible truly see the treasures the Vatican has to offer. The group-based guided tours rush you like cattle through each building and the time in the Sistine Chapel is woefully inadequate.

Booked a private tour of Sistine Chapel after it was closed for about $125 USD. Last time we were in Rome, the Sistine Chapel was packed (like a cattle car) and we only had 10 minutes there before they were ushering us out. Only about 30 people on the private tour, we spent about 45 minutes in the Chapel and really got to see all of the incredible art. Included a nice appetizer plate, dessert and drink after the tour in the Cafe.

I travelled to Rome with my family. Our stay at Sterlizia House was great. Vittoria was very nice. She helped us with arranging our transport from the airport and back to it and she showed us some great places around the apartment. The apartment is very big, with two separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The place was very clean and it had everything needed in it. The location is also great. There are direct buses leading to Trevi fountain and the Vatican. The price is 100% worth it and I truly recommend this place.
Our host Francesco was super nice, helpful, and accommodating. It was our first time in Italy and he gave us some good advice we used throughout our trip. The room was fairly basic but had everything needed for a few day stay in Rome. The location was great as well, the neighbor hood felt safe, had several stores, restaurants, and cafes nearby for anything we could need. It was a short walk to the metro and the Vatican, but was far enough away from the tourist areas so it wasn't too loud or busy outside the apartment.
From start to finish our stay was amazing. The hotel is set in a perfectly central location and shows amazing views. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk from major attractions like the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Piazzale Roma, and much more. Couldn’t have asked for better hospitality either. The workers were happy to assist with any questions and or requests. Will recommend to friends and family and will come back when in Rome again.
We absolutely love the room. We have the suite room. Room and bathroom are huge and very clean. The amenities are great. Our breakfast food is already in our room. Breakfast is plentiful and yummy.
Location is very close to the Vatican and the Basilica. There is a Cafe (Ruberto’s) right there across the hotel and is highly recommended .
Host Alessandro is very nice and helpful.
We will definitely stay in Vatication next time we travel to Rome.
Mossimo was very helpful and friendly. The location is very convenient and is an easy walk from Roma Termini and the main sites. The metro is in front of the termini station so it was easy to take the metro to the Vatican, the Spanish steps, etc. The room was nice, clean and the beds were comfortable. Tea and water were provided. There are several good restaurants and coffee bars near the hotel. We hope to come back to Rome and would stay here again.
I had an amazing stay at this apartment in Rome! The location was ideal - walking distance to the center, with restaurants nearby and the Vatican just a stone's throw away. The neighborhood felt safe, with a police station right in front of the apartment. It was quiet and peaceful, perfect for a good night's sleep. The host was incredibly friendly and accommodating, allowing us early check-in and late checkout. Highly recommend for a wonderful Rome experience!
The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable and had all the amenities anyone could need for their stay in Rome. The location was excellent, barely a 5 minute walk from the Vatican with many shops, cafes and restaurants surrounding the area.
A special thanks to Loredana who welcomed us in person when we arrived despite experiencing delays with our flight and arriving at the apartment at 3 am.
We had a short stay in Rome, primarily centered around touring St. Peter's. This apartment is super close to the Vatican, a quick walk so it met all the convenience that we were looking for. It is also close to a Metro stop. Alberto was super nice and met us outside to show us everything and explain it to us.
Great clean comfortable department occupied with everything you need for enjoyable vacation The location is perfect with access to all kind of transportation plenty of supermarkets and restaurants and couple of minutes walk from the Vatican. The apartment owner is super nice and friendly . Responses immediately and very helpfull . The apartment highly recommended for the perfect stay in Rome. We stayed with kids one week and it was perfect vacation ever
Clean apartment, 5 mins walk from the bus station and 10 mins walk to the Vatican. Shared kitchen which was clean, had a coffee machine and some snacks which were complimentary. The host was responsive and we were able to check in without any issue. Would stay here again if coming to Rome.

What Guests Said About The Vatican:
Vatican is manic, I went in March and it was starting to get busy, I can imagine it would be very hot and uncomfortable in the height of the season
check out the hotels for your ideal location, you get very good value for money from smaller hotels/ bed and breakfast/ guest houses etc. Use the hop on hop off buses, buy tickets to the main tourist attractions in advance, unless you like to wait in line a lot! If you take the time to go through the streets north of the Vatican you can find many small stores where the locals shop
If you take the time to go through the streets north of the Vatican you can find many small stores where the locals shop. As well as the popular brands and designer labels these streets are full of market stalls with lots of bargains and lovely small deli's and cafes that sell many wonderful local goodies. Great restaurants in this area too, well worth spending a few hours of the day finding a treasure or two.

Just the Vatican Museum offers so much that you could easily spend 3 days inside and still not truly see most of it
Get a 48-hour pass on one of the "hop on, hop off" sightseeing bus services. Many of them also offer "skip the line" tickets for certain sights. These tickets are worth every cent. There are tourists waiting in long lines everywhere, which will waste a lot of your time and energy. Rome is an intense tourist destination with much to see. Plan well, do research and be prepared to spend extra on special services. You will need at least 5 days to a week to truly see most of the major landmarks. Just the Vatican Museum offers so much that you could easily spend 3 days inside and still not truly see most of it.

We were told a "5 hour queue for Vatican and the Sistine chapel" but if we joined a tour we can go straight in
As it's Rome there will always be tourists everywhere but DO NOT go with any tour group guaranteeing to skip lines, the queues are never as bad as they look. We were told a "5 hour queue for Vatican and the Sistine chapel" but if we joined a tour we can go straight in...for a €50 fee. We opted out and queued and were in and out of the Vatican, Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel within 2.5 hours all for a quarter of the price (student and EU citizen discounts). The same goes for the colosseum. Go at your own pace and avoid the scammers. The hotel had basic tourist maps which were perfect and we easily found our way. But we did find there were always less people between 12-1 as they had gone to find food by then.

The Colisseum and the Vatican are probably the main attractions, but there are dozens of monuments, museums, gallaries, fountains and churches that all offer a piece of ancient or modern history. Even the roads and walls and buildings seem to tell a story about one of the most preserved ancient cities in the world.
